What You Will Do:

The Pratt & Whitney Asheville, NC site has an open Operations Manager position. Responsibilities include leading business unit performance. Success will be measured by developing strategies and executing goals and objectives to meet all aspects of the control tower including, Market Feedback Analysis (MFA), safety, employee engagement, quality, delivery, and cost. The individual will lead a group of production cell leaders, manufacturing engineers, and quality engineers, to redefine processes, execute on business requirements and deliver to customer expectations.

Qualified candidates will provide leadership and direction with emphasis on team building. They will be able to communicate effectively, have strong strategic leadership and business acumen. They will excel at forward thinking and insure the entire unit is customer focused enabling it to meet the demands of a difficult manufacturing environment.

  • Delegate effectively to develop personnel and balance the workload

  • Establish standards and expectations for work effort and performance for subordinates.

  • Give constant feedback on performance to those standards.

  • Effectively coach employees to improve performance when needed.

  • Effectively communicate with other department personnel and customers to ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Communicate to peers requirements that support processes to ensure smooth production flow.

  • Establish work schedules taking into account customer requirements, resource availability, and other priorities

  • Develop and execute salary and hourly hiring strategy based on manufacturing standard work and customer demand.

  • Develop new hire and cross training plans

  • Ensure operations is executing to meet KPIs and metrics for business unit.

  • Candidate must have excellent analytical, problem solving and project management skills

  • Ability to travel (less than 10%) and support business initiatives in the local community

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • A Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of manufacturing operations experience, or a Master's degree with 8+ years of related experience

  • U .S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

  • Proficiency in MS Office and SAP

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, experience with Kaizen events or experience with a continuous improvement program (ACE); Value Stream Mapping, 5S - Workplace Organization, Continuous Flow Manufacturing, Set-up Reduction, Total Productive Maintenance and Mistake Proofing.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
