Job Title: Cook FLSA Status: Part-time - non-exempt Reports to: Corps Officer Schedule: PT, varies Supervises: N/A Rate of Pay: $18/hour Close Date: 5/15/2024 Benefits: Standard; Part-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following: Sick leave benefit - 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire, pro-rated based on hours for part-time hires) Vacation benefit - 10 vacation days per year, accrued at the rate of .0385 hours for each hour worked, excluding overtime (accrual begins at hire but may not be used until the completion of six months of employment) Pension Plan (after one year of continuous service, if continuingly working 21 hours or more per week) Function: The Cook will provide fresh cooked meals for Aurora Corps Programming and special events. Duties and Responsibilities: Planning and preparing meals for Corps Programs and special events. Plan out weekly menu and secure food and supplies needed, either from the Warehouse or purchase based on budgeted amount provided by Corps Officers. Supervise and coordinate volunteers and Corps members in meal preparation and service. Stocking of food, meal planning, and meal preparation. Inventory of kitchen pantry and maintaining the kitchen pantry in a neat and orderly fashion. Assist in maintaining all company equipment in a sanitary and proper working order, and report any equipment issues to Office & Volunteer Coordinator and Corps Officers. Maintain food preparation areas for compliance with health standards. Maintain good relations with outside service groups and volunteers. Will assist, as necessary, in implementing the rules of Corps programs fairly and equitably. Drive and pick up food when necessary and must be 21 years of age to drive for The Salvation Army. Assist staff with in-kind donations, keeping a log of their receipt, issuing a tax receipt to donors and giving receipt copy to administration. Execute the training and hygiene of all kitchen volunteers Participate fully in all required staff meetings Assist with special events Perform other duties as assigned

Qualification and Education Requirements: Be supportive of The Salvation Army's mission. Ability to reflect and model the high standards of our organization as one of the world's most distinguished human services charitable organizations.

Education and Work Experience: Education and/or work experience commensurate with the duties and responsibilities required. Must obtain a Food Handler's Card and be responsible for following all guidelines of the food handler's manual. The individual must show respect for other employees, associates, clients, and the goals and objectives of The Salvation Army.Software-related skills: Microsoft Word and Excel required, Lotus Notes, Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training.
