Your Role:

You must load cartons, carriers, partitions onto carton assembler, carrier erector, partition inserter and sees that these machines and line conveyors continue to operate and function as designed to do. The tools and equipment that you will be using include, automatic glue machine, glue brush, tape dispenser, carrier assembly machines, carrier inserter, partition inserter, knife, and wire cutter.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Manually load cartons, partitions, carriers onto magazines of carton assembler, carrier erector, partition inserter and sees that these machines continue to operate and function as designed to do. Involves some button pushing. May manually insert partitions or chipboards onto assembled cartons when the shop does not have an automatic partition inserter.

  • May assemble cartons or trays manually using carton assembly; tapes or hand glue carton bottoms when the automatic equipment is non-operating or when required.

  • Turns off equipment in case of malfunction and notifies supervisor or maintenance.

  • Unjams machines and conveyors by stopping and removing materials.

  • Inspects and observes cartons, carriers, partitions, for obvious defects, checks fiber tears, notifies foreman of any defects found and record on the carton quality check sheet. Discards defective cartons to waste bin.

  • Remove wraps, straps, cut bands on pallet loads. Unload cartons, carriers, partitions from boxes or pallets.

  • Performs carton handling duties such as: tying, sorting and stacking.

  • Keeps automatic machines filled with glue. Pick up 50 lb. carton of glue and carry to the working area.

  • Performs cleaning duties to ensure proper operation of all carton forming machines.

  • Performs carton salvaging.

  • Sweeps and cleans assigned areas in Carton Department.

Reporting Relationships:

You will report to the Shift Foreman.

Position Requirements:

About You:

  • Education: High school Diploma

  • Experience: Previous years of experience in the industrial environment preferred.

  • Ability to make simple operating adjustments
