Flexsteel Industries Associate Manager - Global Sourcing in Dubuque, Iowa

PRIMARY FUNCTION : This role is responsible for partnering with the VP of Sourcing to help develop and execute an ambitious vision and strategic plan that transforms Flexsteel’s global sourcing organization into a sustainable competitive advantage for the Company. He/she will develop a diverse network of highly capable supply chain partners outside of the U.S. that deliver high-quality solutions with competitive costs and service levels while providing the agility to quickly expand capacity to support aggressive profitable sales growth. The design of the supply chain network will be strategic and must consider and thoughtfully manage both country and individual supplier risks within specific product categories.

This position can be located at any of our US locations: Global Headquarters, Dubuque, IA - Edgerton, KS - High Point, NC - Maumee, OH.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: The Associate Manager of Global Strategic Sourcing will be involved in a number of key strategic initiatives including:

  • Collaborate closely with VP of sourcing on end-to-end sourcing strategy that is aligned with business objectives and translates into actions that ensure continuity of supply, while maintaining a high standard of quality.

  • Drive new finished goods vendor sourcing and vendor onboarding focusing on Mexico, South America, Europe, Southeast Asia and India

  • Support raw material and component sourcing for OEMs.

  • Work closely with cross functional teams both in Asia and the US for all categories to identify new and emerging supply chain partners to expand supply capacity and improve the overall competitiveness of Flexsteel’s offering.

  • Continue to drive cost engineering, cost reduction and product standardization partnering with country managers.

  • Identify opportunities and drive the speed to market; tailor sourcing strategy to support the growth of ecommerce

  • Manage supplier partner scorecards to ensure optimal performance and proactively address risk that may impact the business.

  • Ensure product compliance with all safety standards to strength testing requirement and reset the process including grouping, testing and traceability.

  • Anticipate and communicate current and potential problems and opportunities to Senior Management, S&OP, Sales, QA and Customer Service so they can make appropriate decisions.

  • Support on ESG and all the key initiatives.

  • Travel is Required

  • All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIRED: A Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required

RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 3-5+ Years of direct supply chain experience is required

OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Results-oriented leadership, known for employing fact-based analysis, world-class process expertise and well-honed negotiation skills to achieve breakthrough performance.

  • Sourcing mastery & deep understanding of cost drivers and cost models; analytical ability to connect this to favorable financial term.

  • Proven performance history of delivery of sourcing processes with a knowledge of current best practices

  • Broad strategic competence to include problem solving, scenario planning, decision-making, and negotiating skills; ability to analyze technical data in suppliers' proposals.

  • Ability to build and sustain relationships; demonstrated ability to lead high-level interactions with internal business partners, suppliers and agencies, working effectively across functions, geographies and cultures.

  • Financial analytical skills for conducting benchmarking, market research, data analytics, cost modeling including Total Cost of Ownership, business case development, and reporting.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively; demonstrating ability to balance strategic and tactical business skills.

  • Confidence operating with high sense of urgency and performance management while adept at using data to influence business decisions.

  • Candidate must be able to lift, carry, push & pull up to 25 lbs and capable of operating office equipment. Position may occasionally require moderate lifting (25-45 lbs). Use of lifting aids or partner lifts are required per policy and procedures.

  • Manual dexterity and foot/hand/eye coordination is necessary to control industrial material handling equipment and vehicles.

  • Subject to fluctuating temperatures within in the work facility, as impacted by the weather.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Flexsteel is committed to ensuring the health and safety of their workforce. Computer workstation and climate-controlled office environment. May enter operational areas which are non-air-conditioned and where workers can expect to be occasionally exposed to heat and humidity, fluctuating temperature conditions due to weather, chemical products, dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise. This position will be required to occasionally work near powered industrial trucks and equipment. This position will be required to occasionally work near and with moving mechanical parts.

Work will require the associate to wear personal protective equipment as directed and adhere to all facility environmental, safety and health rules and requirements.
