Eaton Corporation Engineering Manager in Juarez, Mexico

Eaton’s EPG CPD UL Bussmann division is currently seeking a Engineering Manager.

What you’ll do:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Lead Bussmann Product Design Engineering organization in Juarez, MX. Build, and strengthen capabilities of a multi-disciplinary team to support regional and global Bussmann product lines. This role will have oversight of a team of more than 30 employees to successfully support divisional growth, industrialization, engineering support and cost-out initiatives at the different manufacturing facilities located at Juarez, MX, Santiago, DR & LaGrange, NC.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

A. Understand and deploy Bussmann Engineering Department Strategy. Develop an aligned local product engineering strategy to encompass manufacturing support and division project engineering.

B. Champions Enovia implementation to fully utilize all capabilities around change management and deviations.

C. Assess and develop team and individual capabilities. Develop depth of expertise in fuses and fusible platform design and latest technology, including testing, simulation and statistical toolsets, Eaton’s product lines, industry standards and applicable regulations.

D. Understand product requirements & standards, around fuses and fusible platform technology. Lead the team in developing, documenting, and interpreting design specifications, and evaluating deviations & changes to support the requirements.

E. Maintain compliance with requirements & standards and maintain third-party certifications. Manage non-conformance investigations and corrective actions.

F. Participate in design, development, validation and documentation of new products, ratings, features, and accessories. Enhance performance margin of existing products. Supports and champions PROLaunch stage-gate projects.

G. Support the product lines and the manufacturing plant in new product launches, production support and maintaining existing designs and controlled design documentation.

H. Utilize statistical quality tools, modeling & simulation, and tolerance analysis to optimize designs and drawing specifications and evaluate design robustness.

I. Ensure that designs are cost effective and suitable for manufacture. Support development of production processes, tooling, equipment, test specifications and quality controls to support compliance with specifications.

J. Manage R&D laboratory areas in Juarez, equipment, and procedures to build prototypes and measure, test and evaluate samples. Support corporate and site-specific shop-floor health, safety, and security requirements.

K. Support design reviews, project status reports and other communications between the engineering team and other stakeholders.

L. Support innovation events and technology exploration or demonstration projects. Capture potential intellectual property.

M. Comply with approved policies and processes and perform other administrative responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution

• 10 years of experience working in electromechanical component or systems design

• 5 years of experience supervising or leading teams

• Bilingual with written and oral fluency in Spanish and English

• Must be authorized to work in Mexico.

• May require 25% international travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution

• Experience with Six-Sigma quality tools
