Aston Carter NPI Buyer (Aerospace) in Montreal, Quebec

This Buyer (New Product Introduction) will be supporting various new programs, with tight schedules, and they will need to think outside the box to achieve operational goals. Roles and Responsibilities:

  • This individual will be working on a special mandate which will involve a lot of sourcing and commercial negotiating

  • They will be working sourcing a variety of different components – electrical, mechanical and power – switches, harness, pumps everything surrounding engine.

  • They have new projects with new pieces and some have been around for a long-time. If the engineering change anything major then their group would take care of it and fix it from an existing design

  • Before working with engineering to develop projects, they need to source which suppliers the company will go with

  • They need a have a commercial and technical understanding.

  • Commercial aspect: price negotiation with suppliers to establish schedule, the prices, non-reoccurring engineering cost and once it developed the price of the items

  • Technical aspect: curiosity why it takes time, why these deadlines, they will need to challenge engineering if piece is too complicated. They will need to speak internally to make sure that price is good.

  • They work with SAP – they will place POs, manage schedule

  • They will be Excel – VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and they will also work with different platforms SharePoint, MSP to send specifications and PO to supplier.

  • They will need to review all SAP reports to make sure that there are no mistakes, check different RFP/RFQ to see past due, if they need to place more, etc.

  • They will need to be a part of engineering meetings to understand where they are in the schedule,

  • They will work with contract team to put in place good contract to protect the company.

  • They will work with different departments for status and price meeting, teams they will work with is: project engineering, customer service and OPM

  • They need to constantly do status updates on their projects

  • They will do follow up on quality checks for suppliers they chose. They will do manufacturing analyst and work with manufacturing engineers to make sure testing is all done, and the quality is up to quality standards.

Must haves:

  • 5-10+ years experience project leading/being a project buyers, New Product Introduction

  • Commercial experience – negotiation skills & supplier management

  • Experience working within a heavy manufacturing environment

  • Contract management experience

  • Excellent English communication skills (Written & Spoken)

  • Experience in Aerospace, working with SAP

  • Excel – VLOOKUP and pivot tables

  • Experience dealing with suppliers, sourcing, negotiating

  • Experience working with RFQ/RFP's

Asset:

  • Reading/interpreting technical drawings

  • Bilingualism in French & English (Strong asset)
