The Technical Writer creates and manages the document revisions of operator manuals, technical data sheets, and other publications for all Martin products; creation includes writing, illustration, and editing. The person in this role will research the information for reproduction and communication in assigned documentation. In this technical role, this individual may perform some engineering and product design-related activities.
Specific Responsibilities:
Researches, writes content and creates graphics for operator manuals, technical data sheets, labels, and other promotional publications.
Revises and edits existing operator manuals and technical data sheets.
Assists in establishing global standards and works to ensure global consistency.
Conducts usability tests for operator manuals.
Ensures all manuals are available in the appropriate format for printed manuals and digital distribution as needed.
Assists with engineering and product design-related activities as assigned.
Assists with other technical documentation as needed.
Education, Experience & Training:
Four-year degree or equivalent amount of technical field experience preferred
Two-year certificate in design, drafting, or equivalent experience may be considered
Two or more years prior work-related experience in technical writing and graphic arts
One to two years of drafting experience is preferred.
Foreign language experience is desirable
Competent user of SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred
Experience with FrameMaker and/or InDesign preferred
