Job Description

AECOM is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer for our New York, NY office location. The Sustaining Engineering Electrical TPM will be responsible for overseeing the design of Post Facility Ready (FR) electrical system upgrades and retrofits. This includes building matrixed design teams from client's internal design and external design services partners/providers, facilitating the creation of a shared plan for the execution, and oversight of design services provided by an external design team in support of construction activities. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of mission critical design and construction, as well new product development and insertion.

This person will be responsible or but not limited to the following:

  • Proactively identify, organize, and lead program activities and stakeholders in order to

  • Successfully deliver business, operational, and technical improvements

  • Scope, phase, and lead ambiguous cross-functional and cross-organizational challenges including delivering downstream change management, alongside your stakeholder team

  • Ensure alignment of senior cross-functional and cross-organizational stakeholders

  • Advanced knowledge of the domain of your program

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify stakeholders and work with them to strategize, plan, and prioritize objectives and success criteria

  • Estimate task durations, and ensure schedules and dependencies are aligned and support those objectives within an organization

  • Effectively monitor and communicate progress, and risks. Propose mitigation plans, and align stakeholders on de-risking strategies

  • Measure and publish program and process metrics to drive consensus in teams’ understanding of issues, and to drive decision-making and continuous improvement

  • Seek out and apply relevant best practices

  • Organize ambiguous projects into clear longer-term (6+ months) objectives

  • Build effective program teams within and across an organization and address their needs

  • Guide alignment on timelines, goals, and deliverables of related projects and teams

  • Manage escalations and unblock obstacles

  • Independently design and deliver optimized program communication plans

  • Optimize regular checkpoints and metrics dashboards

  • Ensure stakeholders are aligned on rationale for program pivots

  • Independently maintain project trackers and status reports

  • Create automated processes to enhance velocity and monitoring

  • Define program governance structure by determining effective management of mitigations, postmortems, and escalation reports

  • Independently develop change management rollout plans for programs including impact analysis

  • Proactively lead pivots requiring change management, monitor progress of change management rollout, and resolve misalignments

  • Translate ambiguous program goals into clear and measurable objectives/milestones

  • Create project plans that break down a project into discrete phases aligned to the needs of stakeholders, include risks/dependencies and support proactive identification of program constraints

  • Proactively manage program escalations

  • Across multiple teams, develop technical analysis, tools, and processes that support engineering execution, excellence, and velocity

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Requirements

  • Master's Degree and / or Professional Engineer (PE) license

  • 10 years experience in Electrical Engineering

  • Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment

  • Proficiency in power distribution and backup power systems

  • Thorough understanding of electrical engineering principles, practices, and related technical areas.

  • Knowledge of industry construction methods and techniques

  • Self-motivated with the ability to analyze and resolve issues promptly

  • Able to work independently with minimal oversight for extended periods

  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to stay focused on multiple projects throughout various development phases

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective technical communication, including delivering presentations to large audiences

  • Possess advanced planning and communication management skills

  • Demonstrate proficiency in continuous improvement, execution, organizational change, and stakeholder management

  • Ability to establish systems to identify improvements and drive future needs around business processes, products, or services on an ongoing basis.. Effectively monitor and communicate progress, risks, and mitigations

  • Ability to discern when a change is appropriate and to drive change across the organization, working closely with partner teams to manage and communicate changes, introducing them in the least disruptive manner

  • Put systems and mechanisms in place to facilitate future changes

  • Ability to identify stakeholders and work with them to strategize, plan, and prioritize objectives, estimate task durations, and ensure schedules and dependencies are aligned

  • Ability to align, prioritize, resource, and scale programs according to strategic objectives, and to result in maximized organizational benefits and improved business outcomes

  • The ability to assess engineering problems, understand the interplay between program and technical issues, and contribute to shaping technical directions

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $120,000.00 - $170,000.00.
