Schedule: Full-Time/ Days (M-F) (40 hours weekly)

The role you’ll contribute:

The Research Financial Analyst interacts with senior finance officers and department Directors to provide relevant,

accurate, and timely information, serving as a liaison to Department Leaders in research finance matters. The analyst

performs research, collects data, and skillfully organizes and presents the analysis to management in written or oral

format. Exercises objective, independent judgment in developing financial recommendations for management. Actively

participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally

respectful to all.

  • Reviews and validates financial information, assumptions and methodology based on a thorough understanding of financial concepts and working knowledge of healthcare principles and AdventHealth systems.

  • With continual job learning, applies basic knowledge of federal regulations and policies on research compliance to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial statements.

  • Responsible for interpreting grants and contracts executed in the Office of Sponsored Research and post financial activities related to these agreements in the PeopleSoft system, according to existing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Sponsor requirements as well as audit requirements established in the OMB Uniform Audit Guidance.

  • Coordinates and provides post-award activities including submission of financial progress reports, forecasting results, funding trend analyses, close-out, etc. to ensure adherence with award terms and conditions and institutional policies and procedures.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • Self-motivated, detail-orientated, multi-tasker

  • Ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Understanding of double entry accounting and an operational understanding of routine accounting functions

  • Excellent communication both orally and in writing

  • Computer proficiency, particularly Microsoft Word, and advanced experience in Excel (V-Lookups, Pivot Tables, Index, etc.)

  • Basic knowledge of research finance

  • Basic knowledge and experience of clinical trials management systems (CTMS)

  • Familiarity with federal requirements relating to grants and contracts.

  • Basic experience in federal grant-related financial audits.

  • Basic experience in general business functions requiring interpretation of contract terms and conditions, financial analysis and/or responsibility for Revenue and Accounts receivable management.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, OR Bachelor's degree in non-accounting discipline with adequate accounting course work including intermediate accounting and other upper level financial and accounting courses

  • 1 years of experience in research finance/accounting, or a related field OR two (2) years of experience in healthcare finance/accounting, or a related field
